 mmigrated to Israel at the age of 14 from Iraq and together with his family he grew up in South Tel Aviv. He began his career in the world of insurance as a courier for Migdal before he was even 20 and subsequently set up his own independent insurance company. During his life he has entered the political arena and was a Knesset Member for the Dash Democratic Movement Party in the 9th Knesset. After ending his parliamentary activities, he expanded his business, among other things by acquiring shares of the Phoenix insurance company, Union Bank, Ayalon Insurance Co. and more. He has earned great respect from Israel’s business community because he has built himself up with his own hands with hard labor and the sweat of his brows. Shlomo Eliahu, founder of the insurance company that carries his name “Eliahu” and the largest shareholder in the largest bank in Israel, Banl Leumi le-Israel, has been chosen as the manager of managers. At the annual event that was held in March at Tel Aviv Museum, he received the Dun & Bradstreet Award in special recognition of long-term management excellence.
