osaf Compounds is a world leader in manufacturing and marketing a range of additive masterbatches and compounds for the plastics industry. The company was established in 1986 by the Megides family and in 2001 became a joint-venture with the Ravago Group, a major Belgian organization in the plastics industry. The plastics industry, especially the 500 plastic manufacturers in Israel, would find it easier to realize their production potential with the chemical and technical solutions, which are developed in Tosaf’s laboratories.
Tosaf has become one of the leading manufacturers in Europe with 12 production and distribution sites throughout Israel and Europe. The group’s turnover in 2012 was approximately $430 million.
R&D and Quality
Tosaf develops as many as 20 innovative solutions daily, such as colors, stabilizers and many effects and properties required for various plastic applications. To achieve this, the company employs a highly professional staff of chemical and material specialists in its factories and laboratories who are responsible for developing custom-made solutions for client’s specific requirements in the plastics industry in Israel and worldwide. Tosaf employs 50 researchers in its laboratories in Israel and Europe, and in total employs 900 of the finest professionals in this sector.
The range of products provided by Tosaf includes: color concentrates for coloring the full range of raw materials used in the plastics industry; UV masterbatches to protect from sun radiation and damages; flame retardants for all polymers and all standards; masterbatches for preventing static electricity; masterbatches for polymer foams; masterbatches for enhancing and improving mechanical properties; masterbatches for improving processing; anti-oxidation masterbatches; masterbatches for special effects; degradable and biodegradable masterbatches.
Tosaf is committed to supply customers with products and services of the highest quality, fully suited to their requirements and to international standards of this sector. The company’s laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure continuous quality control and consistency in long-term production.
The company is ISO 9001 certified.
Production and Marketing
Tosaf’s annual production amounts to 100,000 tons in utilizing as many as 90 different production systems. The company’s production lines are suited for both short manufacturing series of dozens of kg per hour up to production series of 3,000 kg per hour. This enables maximum flexibility for producing a wide range of materials for different uses.
A network of sales offices, agencies and distributors in international markets, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Russia and the Ukraine, is responsible for marketing the company’s products. The company’s head European office is located in Belgium.
Protecting the Environment
Tosaf is very conscious regarding global concerns of plastic’s inability to degrade and its influence on polluting the environment. Consequently, the company has developed three solution models for its customers:
Degradable Materials - although made of plastic, products are designed to have a shorter and pre-determined life span, and will ultimately degrade.
Materials Based on Biological Polymers - plastics from vegetal sources.
A Range of Masterbatches for Recycling - enables the company’s customers to recycle all their plastic waste into new products.
The Company’s Plants
The company has three plants in Israel: the plant in Tnuvot was the company’s first factory, specializing in production of all colors of the spectrum, designed for all polymers and known production technologies in the plastics industry.
The plant in Alon Tavor specializes in solutions for smart packaging utilizing additive masterbatches which are UV and fire resistant, in addition to various other additives. The company’s newest plant also in Alon Tavor, completed in 2009 at an investment of NIS 100 million, specializes in the production of compounds, which are plastic materials for use in technical products, such as automotive parts, machinery parts, solar panels and hot water pipes.
